With the generous funding from the Global GreenGrants Fund, YAPO Tanzania has implemented this project which aimed at Empowering Girls and Young Women on Social Economic Advancement through Education and Training at Mabwepande Ward. This project has reach 300 out of school girls and young women from five (5) streets of Mabwepande ward which is situated in the countryside of Dar es Salaam with limited access to adequate social services, poor economic development which make girls and women vulnerable to experience violence, poor economic engagement and decision making and lack of equitable services for their basic needs, thus expose them to teenage pregnancies, child marriage and transnational sex which is an important factor to accelerate HIV/AIDS transmission among adolescent girls and young women (AGYW).

YAPO has reached 5 streets of Mabwepande ward which include, Mbopo, Mji Mpya, Mabwepande, Bunju B and Kihonzile. Each street had an approximate of 60 or more learners enrolled in this project over the period of three consecutive months (January to April) with training on handcraft skills, entrepreneurship, Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Social Rights, HIV/AIDS and Gender Equality. These training were customized to meet the desired time-frame of the project and minimize overwhelming girls and young women with plenty of texts by using specialized modules for out of schools learners delivered through group discussions, pictorials, lectures and presentations.
